From Groundwork to Greatness: 6th cidb ERWIC Awards Celebrate Women Builders 15 August 2025 – Minister of Public Works and Infrastructure, Dean Macpherson, opened the 2025 ERWIC Awards by celebrating the resilience of women who have overcome stereotypes in boardrooms and on building sites, showing that professionalism, competence, and leadership are not defined by gender or race.
Nelson Mandela dedicated his life to championing equality, freedom, and change, leaving an indelible legacy for future generations sharing the same vision with the South African Women in Construction and Build Environment. SAWIC&BE Free State celebrates Mandela Day on 18 July 2025.

In her presentation, the President touched on the power of networking, innovation, and collaboration as instruments for business success, building strong relationships, and ultimately leading to greater opportunities and growth.
She also highlighted the importance of women lifting each other up, doing away with the "pull her down syndrome" that is sometimes prevalent among women. We need to work together and support each other as women.
Another important aspect emphasized was the importance of networking beyond our industry to explore, learn new skills, and allow ourselves to participate in different aspects of the ecosystem.
We hope this networking opportunity opens new and bigger doors for all SAWIC & BE Members.
